    Hairline design and first layer

Your hairline is drawn on and approved by you before any pigment goes in. A shade is custom-mixed to your skin tone and hair colour, then the first layer is placed.

    Density and colour

Density is layered gradually rather than all at once, so it never arrives looking sudden. Spacing and the number of sessions are set for your scalp at your consultation.

The artist

Patrick Presco.

Patrick came to scalp micropigmentation from a BA in Art, and it shows in the part that matters most: where the hairline sits, how softly it starts, and how the density falls away behind it. He does the consultation, the design and every session himself.

“The goal isn’t to make the scalp look dark. It’s realistic follicle impressions that blend with how you already look.”Patrick Presco, Pigment2Scalp

FAQ

Common questions.

Yes. A shade is custom-mixed to your skin tone and hair colour, and impression size, depth and shade are varied so the eye reads texture rather than a repeating pattern. Every photo on this page is a real Pigment2Scalp client.

Clients rate it around a 2 out of 10. No anesthetics are used, and none are needed — pigment sits in the upper layers of the scalp, far shallower than a body tattoo.

For the buzz-cut look, yes. Hair is always more dominant than pigment, so a close shave keeps the result symmetrical and natural. Density work is different: on thinning hair, and for most female clients, the pigment sits between your existing hair to take away the see-through look, and you keep wearing it at the length you like.

It typically lasts three to seven years before a touch-up is wanted. It doesn’t vanish — it softens and loses definition gradually. Sun and UV exposure are the biggest cause of faster fading, so mineral sunblock on the scalp is the single best thing you can do for it.

No. Pigment2Scalp uses 5PM Shadow, a carbon-based ink formulated for scalps — organic, vegan, and made of four ingredients: distilled water, carbon black, isopropyl alcohol and witch hazel. Blue and green comes from the wrong pigment or the wrong depth.

That is set for you at your consultation — it depends on your skin, the area treated and how dark you want to go. It is mapped out before you commit to anything.

Cost is set by how much scalp needs covering and how dense you want it, and is quoted at your free consultation. One complimentary touch-up is included, free to use within a year of your first appointment. Later touch-ups for existing clients currently run $625–$875. CareCredit and Cherry financing are available, and military and first responders get $250 off.

Men and women, any skin tone. Receding or uneven hairlines, thinning or patchy crowns, diffuse thinning, bald areas, alopecia, transplant and surgical scars, and transplants that never reached the density you wanted.
